Mission Statement
Our foundation is dedicated to creating a safe, healthy, and sustainable living environment on Bonaire. We work to protect both public health and the natural environment, with a special focus on improving the way waste is managed on the island. Everyone deserves clean air, clean land, and a safe place to call home — and we are here to make that a reality.
Who We Stand For
We represent the interests of those affected by unsafe or irresponsible waste processing on Bonaire. This includes:
Individual residents
Neighborhoods or communities
Businesses and organizations
Anyone — on Bonaire or elsewhere — who may experience harm or risks due to how waste is handled on the island
If people suffer health issues, environmental damage, financial loss, or violations of their privacy and data rights, we stand by them.
What We Do
1. We take action — legally and socially
We act as an independent, non-profit advocate. When necessary, we take action both in and out of court against parties — including government bodies — that endanger public health, violate privacy rights, or harm the environment.
This can include:
Filing claims or seeking compensation
Demanding the reversal of harmful actions
Requesting investigations or legal measures
Submitting complaints to supervisory authorities
Supporting victims in seeking justice
We do this in the Caribbean Netherlands and, when needed, in other jurisdictions.
2. We uncover the truth
We conduct and commission research into:
Environmental and health risks
Actual or potential rights violations
Who is responsible for the damage or harm
This research helps us bring clarity, raise awareness, and build strong cases for change.
3. We build a stronger Bonaire
Beyond legal work, we also help develop and support social, educational, cultural, and sports initiatives. By working together with local authorities and private partners, we promote positive and sustainable community development.
4. We collaborate for global impact
We work with regional, international, and multilateral organizations to learn, share knowledge, and strengthen our ability to protect Bonaire’s people and environment.
5. We negotiate for fair outcomes
We speak directly with responsible parties on behalf of affected groups. This includes negotiating collective settlements, determining and distributing compensation, and ensuring victims receive fair treatment.
6. We represent your voice
We act as the spokesperson for affected individuals and communities — in the media, in politics, with businesses, and throughout civil society. We make sure your concerns are heard where it matters most.
7. We keep the community informed
We share clear, accessible information about our work, your rights, ongoing issues, and how people can get involved.
Why We Exist
Because Bonaire deserves better.
We want a future where:
Waste is managed safely and responsibly
Communities are protected
The environment thrives
Authorities and companies respect their responsibilities
Everyone’s privacy and rights are safeguarded
