Beyond his professional expertise, Jan is deeply committed to social justice. His motivation to join Pro Lagun stems from a strong belief in fair treatment for the residents affected by the landfill’s impact. As a spokesperson, he actively engages with key stakeholders to ensure that community interests remain at the forefront of discussions. With a clear vision and a results-driven approach, Jan plays a key role in advancing sustainable solutions for Lagun and the people of Bonaire.

  • Sarinca Janga

    Committed to Protecting Lagun

    As Secretary of Pro Lagun,
Sarinca is dedicated to restoring and safeguarding the environment of Lagun. With a background in administration and leadership experience in Toastmasters, she brings strong organizational skills to the foundation.

For Sarinca, this mission is deeply personal. Her family’s farmland once thrived near Lagun, but over time, the landfill has transformed the landscape and impacted the surrounding environment. She advocates for sustainable waste management and responsible policies to protect public health and Bonaire’s natural beauty. Though she often works behind the scenes, her commitment to meaningful change remains unwavering.

  • Myvianca Lucia-Verbeek

Financial Stewardship for a Sustainable Future

    As Treasurer of Pro Lagun,
Myvianca ensures transparency and accountability in the foundation’s financial management. With a master’s degree in accountancy and a post-master’s in control, she brings extensive experience from both accountancy and the insurance sector. Her structured approach and analytical skills help set clear financial goals that support Pro Lagun’s mission.

Born and raised in Bonaire, Myvianca is deeply committed to the island’s well-being. Concerned about the long-standing environmental challenges at the landfill, she strives to contribute to sustainable solutions that protect Bonaire’s future.

  • Farid Ayubi

Guardian of Bonaire’s past, present and future

    As Member of Pro Lagun,
Farid is more then just an activist - he was a whistle blower before the term became common. He exposed and warned about what was coming , spoke up while those responsible ignored the issue, and stayed committed even as others looked the other way.

He has faced resistance and indifference for many years while tirelessly fighting to protect the people, the land, and the sea of Bonaire.

Farid lives close to the landfill and has health issues due to this fact, but claims to continue until his last breath.

  • Michael Winklaar

His dedication to this cause is rooted in a no-nonsense approach, ensuring that Pro Lagun’s objectives are not compromised.
